With a TGS Award, Graduation Awards, Brinksma Innovation Grant and the Education Award, the Opening of the Academic Year had no shortage of prizes to hand out. Here is a list of this year’s winners, all announced this afternoon in the Waaier.
The UT will develop new joint programmes with Vrije Universiteit (VU), and expand its collaboration with regional partners Saxion and Roc van Twente. Victor van der Chijs, President of the Executive Board, announced this during the Opening of the Academic Year ceremony in the Waaier today.
With the title ‘Building bridges’, the Opening of the Academic Year was held today in the Waaier. The event revolved around the topic of energy transition, starting with an announcement of a new initiative with Lithium Werks and ending with a keynote speech by UT alumna and CEO of Tauw, Annemieke Nijhof.

The winners of the Graduation Award were announced at today’s Opening of the Academic Year ceremony. This prize is annually given to five excellent Master’s students, all from the five different UT faculties. Besides the honor of winning, the students received a cheque in the value of €1000.

On the 1st of October 2015, the opening ceremony of ITC´s academic program 2015-2016 took place in Muziekcentrum in Enschede. The event was true to the faculty´s reputation as a place of cultural diversity: 141 new students from 40 different countries were present and the main speech was delivered by Wilber Ottichilo, a member of Parliament in Kenya and an ITC alumnus.

The opening ceremony of new academic year of the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, better known as ITC, took place on the 1st of October 2014. The event was held in the Grote Kerk in the center of Enschede, in a festive environment that welcomed 142 new students and many other important guests. The Academic Program 2014-2015 was officially opened by Lilianne Ploumen , Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.
