ITC: From village boy to global citizen

On the 1st of October 2015, the opening ceremony of ITC´s academic program 2015-2016 took place in Muziekcentrum in Enschede. The event was true to the faculty´s reputation as a place of cultural diversity: 141 new students from 40 different countries were present and the main speech was delivered by Wilber Ottichilo, a member of Parliament in Kenya and an ITC alumnus.

Fraunhofer opens centre on campus

During the opening of the academic year, Chair of the Board Victor van der Chijs announced that the UT will enter into a collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute. Europe's largest non-profit organization for applied research opens their first Dutch offices on campus.

Grand opening of ITC´s academic year

The opening ceremony of new academic year of the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation, better known as ITC, took place on the 1st of October 2014. The event was held in the Grote Kerk in the center of Enschede, in a festive environment that welcomed 142 new students and many other important guests. The Academic Program 2014-2015 was officially opened by Lilianne Ploumen , Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.

'It takes courage and agility to change well'

David Goldberg was early in writing and speaking about the need for traditional university system to change in a way where professors balance expertise and student coaching to help unleash students to have courage and take initiative. The educational transformation guru opened the new academic year and is giving several workshops on campus this week. According to him, change efforts at the UT are authentic and the investments in organizational and leadership development are a bright spot that others should emulate. His experience suggests that it is important in transformation efforts to both be present to what’s happening and be flexible as you iterate toward what works.
