Increase in work-related mental illness at the UT

Year 2020 brought an increase in work-related mental illness at the University of Twente, states the annual report of UT’s occupational health service ‘Arbo Unie’. On the other hand, the absenteeism rate decreased and was below the national average.

Psychological complaints were once again the most significant cause of absence through illness in 2019, says the annual review of the UT’s Occupational Health Service Arbo Unie. The BMS Faculty is specifically mentioned as having a high number of referrals to the psychologist.

Arbodienst ziet vooral psychische problemen

UT-Arbodienstverlener Arbo Unie wil komend jaar werk maken van de preventieve aanpak van psychisch verzuim, zo staat in haar jaarverslag 2018. Want 58 procent van de diagnoses had dat jaar een psychische oorzaak. De dienstverlener wil speciaal aandacht voor de leeftijdscategorie onder 45 jaar en met name de vrouwen.

Het aantal dagen dat UT-medewerkers ziek thuis zitten met psychische klachten vanwege het werk verdubbelde in 2017 naar 6396. Arbodienstverlener Human Capital Care noemt dat in haar jaarverslag ‘zeer opvallend en zorgwekkend.’

De UT begint in 2018 met nieuwe bedrijfsartsen, psychologen en inzetbaarheidscoaches van Arbodienstverlener Arbo Unie, dat de eerdere aanbesteding won. Teamleider Verzuim Caroline Kolkman: ‘De UT stond al een hele tijd op ons wenslijstje.’

Arbo Unie nieuwe arbodienst UT

Arbo Unie neemt vanaf januari 2018 het stokje over van huidig arbodienstverlener Human Capital Care. De arbodienst kwam na een aanbestedingsronde als beste uit de bus. Het bedrijf heeft een duidelijke visie op preventie.

4TU Career Special (#4)

This 4TU Career Special is a shared publication by the news editors of Cursor (Eindhoven University of Technology), Delta (Delft University of Technology), Resource (Wageningen University and Research), and U-Today (University of Twente). The magazine came into being in collaboration with industry, and is explicitly aimed towards students who are either in the final phase of their studies, or have just graduated.
