For the past three years, Create Tomorrow has been cancelled time and again. Traditionally known as the world’s largest student think tank, the event brought students together in a large marquee on the Ganzenveld, where they worked in teams on real-life cases provided by companies and organisations. The winners received substantial prize money.
There are no concrete plans to organise the event next year, says Simone van den Heuvel, who is responsible for personal development and internationalisation at the Student Union. The organisers of the Business Days Twente, who last year joined forces with the Student Union in an attempt to revive the event, also confirm that no new edition is currently in development.
After four consecutive cancellations, it increasingly looks as though the student think tank is nearing its end. Van den Heuvel believes that conclusion is premature and prefers to describe the situation as a ‘work in progress’. ‘It remains a fun and inspiring event that fits well with the entrepreneurial spirit of UT and its students. Alternative formats have been explored this year, but it is still unclear what the future of Create Tomorrow will look like.’
