Victor van der Chijs to depart UT as per 1 April

Executive board chairman Victor van der Chijs will leave the University of Twente on 1 April. He is to start working as chairman of Deltalinqs and the Rotterdam Port Promotion Council, to represent the interests of the business community in the port of Rotterdam.

Van der Chijs will be leaving the UT six months before the end of his second term. He has been chairman of the Executive Board since September 2013.

On 1 April, he will become chairman of Deltalinqs, a business organisation which represents the interests of more than 700 companies in the port of Rotterdam. Van der Chijs will also become chairman of the Rotterdam Port Promotion Council, the international network organisation of the Port of Rotterdam business community.

The UT Supervisory Board will soon start looking for a new president of the University of Twente. Until a candidate is found and installed, Vice-President Mirjam Bult and Rector Tom Veldkamp will take over Van der Chijs' duties from 1 April.

Collegevoorzitter Victor van der Chijs, die ook het centraal crisisteam leidt, blikt terug en kijkt voorzichtig vooruit. ‘Het besturen van een universiteit was af en toe heerlijk voorspelbaar. Dat is nu volledig veranderd.’

President of the Executive Board Victor van der Chijs, who also leads the central crisis team, looks back and cautiously looks ahead. ‘Managing a university used to be delightfully predictable now and then. That has changed completely.’

Vrijdag geen onderwijs, UT beraadt zich op komende weken

Op de UT wordt morgen geen fysiek onderwijs gegeven en geen tentamens afgenomen in verband met het coronavirus. Dat laat collegevoorzitter Victor van der Chijs weten. Medewerkers die in overleg met collega’s vanuit huis kunnen werken, roept hij op om dat te doen. Het crisisteam beraadt zich vrijdag op verdere maatregelen.

No education on Friday, UT is considering measures for coming weeks

There will be no physical education at the UT tomorrow and no exams will be taken, because of the corona virus, states UT chairman Victor van der Chijs. He calls on employees who can work from home in consultation with colleagues to do so. The crisis team will consider further measures on Friday March 13.
