Introduction of new e-mail system catches students by surprise

Veilig Dropbox-alternatief in principe gratis

‘Aan het uitwisselen van vertrouwelijke bestanden via een cloud, worden hogere eisen gesteld dan aan het verzenden van e-mail.’ Met die reden wil de UT een veilig alternatief voor Dropbox en Google Drive aanbieden, terwijl Google Apps voor mail op de UT wél voldoet. Gebruikers hoeven in principe niet te betalen voor de nieuwe clouddienst.

UT krijgt 'veilig alternatief' voor Dropbox

‘Het is niet veilig, de NSA kijkt er mee en mogelijk kunnen ook concurrenten in clouddiensten als Dropbox.’ Daarom kunnen UT-medewerkers vanaf volgende maand gebruik maken van SURFdrive, een ‘veilig alternatief’ voor Dropbox en Google Drive. Mogelijk komt de nieuwe clouddienst ook voor studenten beschikbaar.
