New hope for osteoarthritis patients

Marcel Karperien, professor at the department of Developmental Bioengineering, developed an injectable hydrogel to repair damaged cartilage and potentially prevent the onset of osteoarthritis. Together with his colleagues from TechMed Centre, UMC Utrecht and Hy2Care, he optimized the gel to make it suitable for use in humans.

Eretitel voor reuma-onderzoekers op de UT

De Developmental BioEngineering onderzoeksgroep van de UT mag zich Research Centre of Excellence noemen. Die titel krijgt de groep van ReumaNederland. ‘Bijzonder eervol’, zegt hoofdonderzoeker, Marcel Karperien. Naast de titel krijgt de groep zes ton voor onderzoek.

This 4TU Career Special is a shared publication by the news editors of Cursor (Eindhoven University of Technology), Delta (Delft University of Technology), Resource (Wageningen University and Research), and U-Today (University of Twente).
