With a yoga session and a side job market, the Kick-In committee adds new components to the introduction program. The traditional Storming of the Bastille also gets a 'great element of surprise'. 'We want to offer newcomers a good start.'

The committee - which has been at the helm since February - was given a short time to set up an introduction week. Nevertheless, chairman Kiki van den Oosterkamp wanted to pour a new sauce over the program booklet. 'Last year, the committee introduced the 'silent disco' and the 'Battle of the bands' for the first time. This year we also want to offer a touch of peace and help. That is why an Enschede yoga school starts on the second introduction day with a yoga class in the Volkspark. Later in the week, local businesses will have stalls at the side job market in the same park. This way, new students can get to know the region, browse around the organisations and maybe score a part-time job right away,' says Van den Oosterkamp. 'With this we want to offer newcomers a good start.'

To further complete the program, the committee also listened to feedback. On the basis of a survey, the committee conducted a survey among participants of the previous edition. According to the chairman, it appears that the silent disco and the Battle of the bands have been well received. 'Those events were then running for the first time. They are coming back this year, because there were positive reactions about it. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the student bands perform in a battle competition.' It is still unclear whether the winner will  be allowed to perform at the Kick-Out Festival  – just like last year.

Finally, the chairman reveals that the storming of the Bastille will have a 'nice new element'. 'As a committee, we also wanted to add something to this part, but that will remain a surprise until then. In any case, it makes me enthusiastic. How this will work out remains to be seen, and therefore exciting for us as well.'

Incident reporting

Last year, after the foam party – which will also return this year – a report came in about an incident of transgressive behavior. The foam party will be a recurring number in the program in August. 'The focus is on better disseminating correct information. Think, for example, of telephone numbers if someone wants to report an incident.' According to the chairman, the incident in the Vestingbar was discussed during several consultations. 'We guarantee safety, including at the foam party in the Vestingbar.'

The Bachelor's programme Kick-In 2025 is from Wednesday 20 August to Thursday 28 August. The Kick-In 2025 master's programme will take place from Saturday 23 August to Thursday 28 August. Participants can register on the Kick-In site.
