This year’s edition of Typisch Twents will take place on 11th May at the Twentse Beer Brewery in Hengelo. The initiative, organized by Integrand Twente, is aimed at introducing students to local career and internship opportunities in the region.

‘We noticed that most of the students are on the move to the Western part of the Netherlands and we wanted to make them aware of the possibilities in the region,’ says Steven Oosterkamp, Marketing Head at Integrand. ‘We try to arrange new and different companies such that all studies at the UT are represented.’ This is the second time that Integrand Twente is organizing Typisch Twents, although Integrand as a whole organizes career events for students all over the Netherlands.

For this edition, they have chosen the municipality of Enschede and Benchmark Electronics, a technical company in Almelo providing R&D services in various engineering domains. Last year, Grolsch and Thales were invited to present career possibilities to students. ‘Both companies from last year and this year were invited because they are rooted deep within the region of Twente’,  Oosterkamp.

During the event, the chosen companies will present themselves shortly to the students after which they will have the opportunity to participate in interactive business cases. Towards the end, there will be dinner and drinks where students and company representatives can socialize. The event will be held in Dutch as has always been in the past years. ‘We are aware that we miss out on a lot of international students, and we are thinking about organizing it in English in the future’, says Oosterkamp.
