Stefan Kooij new portfolio holder for education at TNW

Stefan Kooij has been named the portfolio holder for education of the Faculty of Science and Technology (TNW). As of January 1, 2022, he will succeed Nieck Benes, who has held this position in recent years.

Stefan Kooij is an associate professor at the TNW faculty at the University of Twente. He has been the program director of Applied Physics at the UT since 2015. He is also a member of the Education Innovation Platform and chairman of the Syllabus Physics Committee (which contributes to secondary education). Since the beginning of 2021 he is also manager of the Student Laboratories Twente group.

Kooij studied experimental physics at Utrecht University and obtained his PhD for his research on the electrochemistry of semiconductors. He has been affiliated with the UT since 2000, when he started here as a researcher in the Solid State Physics group - now the Physics of Interfaces and Nanomaterials group -, where Kooij still conducts research on the interface between solids and fluids.
