Late-summer evening with world music

Balkan-inspired pop music imbued with swing and reggae is what goes to make up the sound of Amariszi. The band played at the open-air theatre at the UT yesterday.

Over the last few years, the eight-man line-up, featuring bass, drums, guitar, a brass section and an accordion, has managed to establish a strong position for itself on the Balkan scene. The captivating music, combined with the exuberance and enthusiasm of the band members, turns each performance into a party.

The Vrijhof Culture Centre has world music on the programme for the first few Monday evenings of the academic year.

Next week we will be welcoming Zazí to the stage. Zazí is a musical trio playing its own brand of pop-folk, with a hint of chanson and sometimes a jazzy edge.
