Prof. Atala was the first person to lab-grow a bladder in 2006. He managed to successfully transplant it into a human being. Ever since, the director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine from North Carolina, USA, has worked on the development of over 30 other organs and tissues. And it does not stop there. Atala has invented a 3D organ printer.
Will this change the world as we know it? Are worries about our health history forever? Are there any ethical constraints? You are welcome to join the event to find out.
The Studium Generale will be chaired by prof. dr. ir. Peter-Paul Verbeek, full professor of Philosophy of Technology at the UT. It is part of the national lecture series on regenerative medicine As good as new?
It will take place next Tuesday, April 2nd, 19.30-21.00 in Vrijhof/Agora.
