Arjen Hoekstra presents new book
This Friday (22 March) is World Water Day, an event held to raise people's awareness of water usage. To promote further knowledge on the subject, UT professor Arjen Hoekstra will launch his latest book: “The Water Footprint of Modern Consumer Society” at the Food Film Festival in Amsterdam. In the event, Hoekstra reveals why our waterfootprints, a term coined by Hoekstra a decade ago, are often higher than we think. One reason is that people often neglect virtual water use, i.e. the amount of water used in the process of manufacturing consumer goods. Proposed solutions include the creation of benchmarks for food products and other consumer good such as flowers and cotton. Interested?
