Campus Culture Award

Bachelor student Irana Denissen has won the Schuijer Campus Culture Award. The award is given annually to a student who has combined his or her study with outstanding cultural achievements. Professor Schuijer honored Denissen with the award for her ability to combine academic studies in Applied Mathematics with activism. She scored high in the ballroom dancing championship with the dance association 4 Happy Feet and held a function as secretary at the Bellettrie film house.

Voor haar bacheloropdracht onderzocht ATLAS-studente Ceyda Çelebi ‘urban heat islands’. Ze richtte zich op het O&O-plein op de campus en hoe je daar de hittestress tegen kan gaan. ‘Het kan er wel 60 graden Celsius worden.’

For her bachelor’s thesis, ATLAS student Ceyda Çelebi studied urban heat islands. She focused on the O&O Square on campus and explored ways to reduce heat stress there. ‘It can reach 60 degrees Celsius.’

Onder leiding van hoogleraar Maaike Endedijk gingen donderdagmiddag in het DesignLab tientallen UT’ers in gesprek over opstaan tegen machtsmisbruik en wangedrag. ‘Vaak weet je van elkaar niet wat normaal is en wat niet.’
