The canteens in the Educational Science and Technology (TO) and Chemical Technology (CT) buildings will close starting January. From that moment onwards the canteen in the EL/TN building will be open in a limited fashion until the catering facilities in the Bastille are ready.
Closing the canteens is part of the reorganisation plan of the Facility Department, says head UT-Catering Bart Dirne. He says that the closure will only have consequences for personnel who do not have a permanent contract.
Staff in the afore-mentioned buildings will not be denied food and drink completely in 2003. TO- and CT-personnel can go to the canteen in the Lecture hall complex, EL/TN residents to the Bastille at a certain point.
More coffee machines will be placed in the buildings and a catering employee will be present for coffee, tea and pre-ordered simple lunches.
Dirne: 'The staff of these buildings are of course not happy with the new situation. But it has to be. We have tried to limit the services as little as possible.'
Exact information on the opening hours and the rules concerning orders can be found on the Facility Department's website.
