At 12.35 hr on Monday 1 October the Jazz Day starts with an inititiative of progressive jazz musician Mark Alban Lotz, 'TiffNoiZe' Silent Moves & Violent Grooves. In his musical vision he sees similarities to genres that came from pop like noise and drum 'n' bass. With drummer Michael Baird and the electronics of Alan Laurillard he creates an enervating and at times overwhelming sonic trip which somehow builds on the fusion experiments of Davis and the like at the start of the seventies. Live, VJ Gido adds to this an extra dimension with intense images; sometimes abstract, but also sampled from all over. This is a noon break which will kick all sleepy Monday morning feelings to mother.
At 20.15 hr the Eric Boeren 4tet, a Dutch improv-group, fascinatingly builds on the work of the great free jazz spirits from the past. Monday 1 October, 12.35 hr, Amphitheater, Vrijhof, f 6.61/f 2.20 20.15 hr, Amphitheater, Vrijhof f 8.81/f 4.41 Day ticket: f 11.02/f 5.51
