Ombuds Officer: ‘HR should be more empathetic’

‘The role of HR at the University of Twente should be reconsidered,’ states Ombuds Officer Han Warmelink in his annual report. ‘UT employees are afraid to approach the HR department, because they think that HR is not here to help them, but to help the employer. That is a problem,’ says the ombudsman.

Ombuds Officer now a permanent position at the UT

After a two-year pilot, the UT has decided to make the post of Ombuds Officer a permanent position. The appointment of the current ombudsperson Han Warmelink has been extended by four years until 2025.

Response to #MeToo: The UT plans to get an ombudsperson

As a response to the #MeToo movement and related issues, the UT aims to get an independent ombudsperson. In January, the UT will also launch a new website on integrity and an ‘active bystander training’. These plans were presented at today’s meeting organized by the FFNT (Female Faculty Network Twente).

4TU Career Special (#4)

This 4TU Career Special is a shared publication by the news editors of Cursor (Eindhoven University of Technology), Delta (Delft University of Technology), Resource (Wageningen University and Research), and U-Today (University of Twente). The magazine came into being in collaboration with industry, and is explicitly aimed towards students who are either in the final phase of their studies, or have just graduated.
