Sport Data Valley lab is planned to be built in the UT Sports Centre this year. The lab is part of UT’s involvement in Sport Data Valley, a national infrastructure for research of sport data. This digital platform, which the UT helped to develop, was launched last month.
The Sports Centre recently announced a partial closure due to insufficient ventilation. ‘Why wasn’t this known earlier?’ asked the University Council at today’s meeting with the Executive Board. According to Mirjam Bult, issues with air circulation remain in the Sports Centre, Vrijhof and on the 5th floor of Carré, but are all being resolved.
Due to insufficient ventilation and air circulation, three halls in the UT’s Sports Centre have been closed. Halls SC1, SC3 and SC4 cannot be used for sports or educational activities for the time being.
Because the indoor sports facilities are getting busier, the UT Sports Center is working with the Student Union and the Sportkoepel to write a report about the issue. They will submit the report to the Executive Board in order to find a solution together. ‘On some days it is simply too crowded,’ says the Head of the Sports Center Sanne Kleinenberg.
The campus should have a new vision for sports, says Student Union board member Sietse van Mossel. The current vision is five years old and the demand has changed, he says. 'We are going to ask students and employees about their needs.'
Grab your swimsuit! The outdoor swimming pool at the UT campus will open a week earlier than planned. You are welcome to use it already from next Monday, the 7th of May.
UT researchers who are currently learning Dutch at the TCP Language Centre are in for two rather unusual Dutch lessons next week. Rather than being held in a classroom, their evening classes on Monday or Tuesday will be held at the UT Sports Center. Thursday and Friday's lessons will take place in the Vrijhof Cultural Center. The reasons for this change in location are two-fold.
