Everyone knows them; the electric shared scooters that you can rent to get from one place to another. They are in the parking facility at the Vrijhof, among other places. Students and staff use it regularly. That is now coming to an abrupt end. 'You can still come across a stray scooter, but they all disappear eventually,' says contract manager site André de Brouwer.
The news also came unexpectedly for De Brouwer. 'I read it in the newspaper this morning. We were not informed, because Felyx has not shared anything with us about this.' However, he has noticed something lately: 'There were fewer and fewer e-scooters on campus.'
What does the contract manager himself think of the decision? 'We are disappointed that the scooters will disappear permanently, because investments have been made in special hubs where users could park the scooters properly.' De Brouwer has a suspicion why the company is stopping in Overijssel. 'Many shared scooters were damaged, so the turnover was probably disappointing.'
Felyx itself was unavailable for comment by phone.
