Discovery Truck

The University of Groningen recently received funding from GasTerra for its Discovery Truck. The Faculty of Mathematics & Natural Sciences uses the truck to visit schools in the Netherlands and show students what science is about through experiments and lectures. Currently, the Discovery team is completing the finishing touches on the truck, including solar panels on the roof which will be used in a game to recharge cell phones and computers for visiting students. The truck’s theme is ‘energy,’ and it also now has a retractable windmill. The Discovery Truck will, however, just keep running on diesel. But with a BlueTec engine, the technology of the diesel engine emits less Daimler NOx gases.
