Faulty representations

The images on which developers of technologies for older people base themselves are not always accurate and at times based on stereotypes. As a result, technological solutions to the ‘aging problem’ could have adverse effects on, or be rejected by, older users. These were some of the key findings from Dr. Louis Neven (STePS), who successfully defended his PhD thesis last week. Neven came to his conclusions after consulting various Ambient Intelligence designers and experts, following their interactions with older persons. An article on his findings has been published in Sociology of Health and Illness.
