Following the lead of diplomats and governments, a university has become engulfed in Wikileaks’ cable gate revelations. The secret-spilling website recently published a diplomatic memo indicating that University of Durham received £300,000 from the U.S. State Department to organize several seminars and exchanges for Iranian academics, clerics and journalists. In exchange, the U.S. government could collect information on Iranian grassroots politics. The revelations have led to fears over the safety of Iranian academics with ties to Durham.
