Double jazz venue

The legendary American keyboard player Jamie Saft will perform the works of John Zorn, Bob Dylan and his own ‘out of the blue’ original numbers in an afternoon concert. At night, The Samuel Blaser Quartet will take stage with a blazing Swiss trombonist who will slide notes with French guitarist Marc Ducret.

The Jazz Podium Drienerlo in association with the Vrijhof Cultuurcentrum attracted these world talents to promote progressive jazz on a high level for the 15th Jazz Day. These venues will be the only time the two acts will perform in the Netherlands on their European tours.

‘Roadmap’ moet vaagheid rond UT-transitie wegnemen

Wat wil de UT precies met de ‘harmonisatie’ van faculteiten, de interfacultaire eenheden en het ‘Transition Support Team’ zoals genoemd in het 'Reinventing UT'-programma? Dat vroeg de universiteitsraad zich woensdag af. Rector Tom Veldkamp beloofde in het najaar met een ‘roadmap’ te komen.

‘Heroverweeg het bindend studieadvies’

In een brief aan het college van bestuur schrijft de universiteitsraad dat het ‘zowel tijdig als noodzakelijk’ is dat de UT ‘haar positie ten aanzien van het bindend studieadvies kritisch heroverweegt’. Rector Tom Veldkamp liet eerder al weten dat het onderwerp op de agenda staat.

‘Reconsider the binding study advice’

In a letter to the executive board, the university council writes that it is ‘both timely and necessary’ for UT to ‘critically reconsider its position on binding study advice’. Rector Tom Veldkamp has previously indicated that the topic is already on the agenda.

Onderwijs en onderzoek moeten duurzamer

De universiteitsraad wil dat duurzaamheid een vast gegeven wordt binnen het onderwijs en onderzoek van de UT. Dat gaf de raad woensdagochtend aan tijdens de vergadering. Aanleiding vormt het recent verschenen Sustainability Energy and Environment (SEE)-rapport 2025.

Komen er harde afspraken over internationals? Dat is maar de vraag

Het kabinet wil afspraken maken met hogescholen en universiteiten om het aantal buitenlandse bachelorstudenten te beperken. Maar zonder de taaltoets heeft de minister weinig dwangmiddelen.
