L.A. Voz

The newly formed student association L.A. Voz or the `Voice of Latin America' was officially founded in 2009 with the goal to represent 20 different Latin American countries, and to provide support for UT students in Enschede or for those wanting to study or complete an internship in South or Central America. Co-founder Andrea Sanchez Ramirez from Bogota, Colombia, stresses the importance of bringing students from all the organizations together to foster understanding and cultural exchange. The association offers movie nights, weekly drinks at Rico Latino Dance Club, cultural events and plans gastronomy courses. In the spring, there will be a seminar on leadership in Latin America and a photographic exhibition.

Al 4.600 handtekeningen tegen ‘gelijke kansen’ bij hospiteren

In korte tijd staan er al 4.600 handtekeningen onder een petitie tegen ‘gelijke kansen’ bij het hospiteren voor woningen van studentenhuisvester DUWO. Bewoners willen zelf blijven bepalen wie hun nieuwe huisgenoot wordt.

Na censuur verwerven redacties meer onafhankelijkheid

Na censuur in Delft en Eindhoven hebben meerdere universiteitsbladen hun onafhankelijkheid versterkt met een vernieuwd redactiestatuut. ‘Iets wat je nooit nodig hoopt te hebben, maar er wel moet zijn.’

Videoteam bekroond met Educational Support Spotlight award

Het videoteam van de dienst LISA valt met de Educational Support Spotlight award in de prijzen. Donderdagmiddag kreeg Koen Hak – teamleider van het videoteam – de award en het certificaat namens Young Academy Twente overhandigd.

Spinoza- en Stevinpremies toegekend: ‘Mooiste cadeau voor wetenschapper’

Onderzoeksfinancier NWO heeft de hoogste onderscheidingen in de Nederlandse wetenschap toegekend: twee Spinozapremies en twee Stevinpremies. De winnaars krijgen ieder 1,5 miljoen euro. ‘Een enorme erkenning.’
