Sleep Cycle on iPhone
The Swedish-designed iPhone application is a sleep-tracking device that can create a nightly record of sleep patterns shown as a graph image. Launched last summer the Sleep Cycle works by using a sensor in the iPhone which is called an accelerometer, enabling the device to monitor movement. Depending on what phase of sleep, the human body behaves differently, twitching when in a dream (or REM) phase and even more restless when finally waking in the morning. The relatively new application has the ability to gauge within a half-hour time frame when a person has reached the optimal point in a cycle to wake up and assist the user back to consciousness with soothing music.
