The faculty Business, Public Administration and Technology (BBT) will move across the street for at least a year. Everyone from BBT will take up residence in the empty office building next to the Ericsson office. Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society (WMW), including Communication Studies and since recently part of the faculty Behavioural Sciences will be housed in the adjoining 'old' Ericsson building.

Mathematical Sciences, also hit by the TWRC-fire, will find temporary accommodation within the campus gates.

BBT-dean Wouter van Rossum is happy with the solution found for his employees last week. 'We will start setting up temporary work areas as soon as possible. First priority is housing our employees from the TWRC-building, who are working all over the place, including at home.' Educational services for BBT-students remain on campus as much as possible.

Van Rossum expects that the first BBT-employees will move this week, followed by all other parts of the faculty, including the educational programme Industrial Engineering and Management (TBK) that at this moment still occupies part of the BB-building. However, the internal set up of the building - built to make the expansion possible of the by now dismantled Ericsson branch - still has to be changed.

The dean says to have 'no objection' if the temporary accommodation is for 'more than a year', i.e., until that moment that the faculty can move in its entirety to a new, permanent campus location.

According to WMW operational manager Rinus van Doorn the move of his departments will take place in phases: 'We hope to be there completely by the second week of January.' But a lot has to be done before staff can relocate to the building. 'We have to place more dividing walls in spaces that are too large, and install a network', according to Van Doorn. The financial cluster of WMW will find accommodation in the KCT-building, the Education Service Centre will remain the Educational Science and Technology building.

The employees of Mathematical Sciences will be housed in the Computer Science and the KCT-building. The library of Computer Science will be cleared to make space for a number of Mathematics groups. The Computer Science library will probably be moved into the Chemical Technology library. Around the library a number of work spaces for PhD-students will be set up. The Mathematics Bureau Educational Affairs will move to the fourth floor of the Computer Science building. In the KCT-building a number of rooms will be cleared for mathematicians. 'We hope to start the move this week', states Tonny Tibben, head laboratory Computer Science. 'That does not mean that everone can move into their rooms straightaway. We will discuss that with the staff during a meeting.'
