The 26-year-old suspect of the fire in the TWRC-building has also confessed to letting down tyres of cars parked at the TWRC-building a few weeks ago. He then reported it to security himself.
Last week the man, who is held in a penitentiary in Hoogeveen, was heard again by Enschede detectives. He is also suspected of being responsible for the computer terrorism suffered by Mathematics in the past few months. The police expects to be able to give more information on this this week.
The man from Hengelo, who worked as a system manager at Mathematical Sciences, had worked at the UT for one-and-a-half years. After secondary school he took an intermediate course in electronics (MTS) and then a higher level (HBO) course in computer technology at the Saxion Hogeschool. His colleagues knew him as a cool, reserved person. He was active for a number of evangelical organisations, like the christian radio broadcasting company LOGOS. The suspect was also programmer agenda-generator at the Muurkrant (wall poster), a religious agenda paper, and was part of the 'Christian Webmasters' a society for christian system managers.
