Different organisations in Twente are discussing ways and means to preserve the knowledge and personnel from the Ericsson branch that will be closed. The UT, Ericsson, Enschede council, Technology Circle Twente, the OOM (organisation promoting business development in Overijssel), provincial government, the ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Saxion Hogeschool are working together to prevent knowledge loss and damage to the ICT-image of Twente, and preserving employment for the region. To this end they are looking for candidates to take over Ericsson Enschede and its expertise. Aside from that they will support initiatives by Ericsson employees, and they will be looking into the possibility of setting up a research institute on telecommunication.
