On Monday, June 17 the Union for Turkish Academics in Twente (TVTA), Monsoon and the SPe will organise a lecture on "Misconceptions about Islam". The lecture will be given by the rector of the Islamic University in Rotterdam, Professor Dr. Ahmet Akg³nd³z, a prominent expert on Islam.
After the attacks on the WTC and the recent political developments in the Netherlands, much has been written on Muslims and many a judgement has been passed. On what are these thoughts based? Are they realistic or are they unfounded fears and doubts about the unknown? Professor Akg³nd³z will examine misunderstandings about Islam and Muslims in his lecture, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.
