A new office building, new ambitions and thus a new name. The Student Housing Organization Drienerlo has been renamed Acasa, which in good Latin means 'at home'. The new name was announced last week by director Bert Bokhove during the grand opening of the new building. Performances by comedians enhanced the festivities. Lifesize dolls kept the audience laughing.
Enschede alderman R. Bleker presided over the official opening ceremony, praising the campus student housing organization. In 2007 Acasa will raze about 600 student units, which no longer meet safety standards, and will rebuild them. This concerns units on 'Campuslaan-hoog' and 'Calslaan-nieuw'. In addition 200 new student housing units will be built on campus exclusively for international students.
