The guest restaurant, which was until recently also planned in the TheatercafÚ, will temporarily be moved to Logica, the housing and lecture centre on the Campuslaan. The canteen in the WB-building will serve as temporary accommodation of the refectory. After a chaotic decision-making process, in which one proposal after another was launched and shot down, an end seems to have come to four months of insecurity for UT-Catering.
'We are very relieved', is how head Bart Dirne described the mood in the UT-Catering ranks. 'Everybody finally knows what will happen to them. Even though it will be a difficult period logistically: we will work at four different locations and that asks a lot of your people. But we have always assumed that we wanted to continue to keep all our functions up and running, also during the transition period. Because everything you do not do for a while, you loose. The Logica-variant for the guest restaurant is not ideal for example, but it is always better than not having a guest restaurant at all for a year.' The administrative Catering-functions will temporarily be housed in the Drienerburght.
Even though the Bastille is officially closing for sixteen months for a large-scale renovation to Student Union stronghold after the Batavierenparty on 27 April, the refectory will be operational in its old location until 5 May. From 6 May the refectory diner can find his or her food in the adapted WB-canteen, which will serve as a refectory until August 2003.
