UT-Professor and Mesa director David Reinhoudt shares second place on a list of 'twenty best Dutch researchers'. The list is drawn up by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), which assessed the scientific accomplishments of universities and researchers for the weekly magazine Elsevier.
The Elsevier/CWTS investigation looked at the number of publications that, according to Elsevier belonged 'to the top 1% in the world of most-cited articles'. It concerns scientific publications from the period 1991-1996 and the number of times that these were cited in renowned scientific journals between 1991 and 2001. Reinhoudt has, like aids-expert dr. Frank Miedema of the University of Amsterdam, nine such articles to his name. The professor Clinical Epidemiology dr. Frits Rosendaal from Leiden is number one with ten articles.
The University of Leiden has the best results with regard to research published in renowned journals. The Catholic University Brabant is the least visible. Wageningen University scores the best of the specialised universities, before the Delft University.
