The Proef Eet is in full swing this weekend in Enschede's historic Old Market. This three-day-long gastronomical event offers food lovers the possibility to try small servings of culinary dishes prepared by local chefs from 20 restaurants.

From tasty Spanish tapas to rib-eye steaks with gorgonzola sauce, there is guaranteed to be something to whet every visitor's appetite and satisfy even the most demanding gourmand.

Pagoda-style tents will provide a haven for visitors, offering the opportunity to dine al fresco. In the Langestraat, there will be cooking-related products for sale, and visitors can sharpen their cooking techniques while watching live demonstrations in open-air kitchens on the Jacobsplien.

Three cash desks will sell bags of plastic tokens called duyten. The value of one duyt equals the value of one euro, and vendors will not accept cash payments. Yet it is easy to purchase the tokens, and most food dishes are reasonably priced. Get away from the books this weekend to enjoy this extraordinary food extravaganza!
