Squeezing out the very last drop

The UT's Physics of Complex Fluids Group is to participate in a five year, world wide project with the oil company BP. The aim of the project is to find ways to extract an extra ten percent from oil fields. With the current oil yield at 40 percent, the extra 10 percent could give temporary relief to the looming crisis in the oil industry, forecasting a possible ten years grace for the end of oil era. The UT group will focus its research on the interaction of water, oil and rock at the molecular level.
