Knowledge workers in demand

| Redactie

Former Prime Minister Rudd Lubbers calls for changes in the asylum policy to allow for more skilled knowledge workers to enter the Netherlands, according to an article in the opinion section of the Dutch Dagblad. He said foreign workers are needed in the fight against the increase in numbers of the aging population. Within three months after submission of an application for a resident card, Lubbers argued, skilled migrates should be enrolled in a Dutch language course. The State Secretary of Justice Nebahat Albayrak is working on a new policy to speed up asylum procedures and the Cabinet has created new rules to make it easier for companies to hire foreign employees.
