Gates gives farming aid
On the eve of World Food Day, Microsoft's co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates announced his charitable donation of $US120 million in grants for the promotion of sustainable agriculture for farmers in India and Africa. According to Gates, 75 percent of the poorest people in the world receive their income and food by farming on small areas of land. He added that if these farms were more productive, their profit would be increased while hunger and poverty would decrease. The funding will be useful to help promote environmentally friendly farming and crop development, as well as improving health by increasing farming of foods enriched with essential vitamins.
