China Festival of Lights

Just north of the university at the Emmen Zoo, a traditional Chinese light show, the first of its kind in Europe, will kick off this weekend on November 10. The Festival of Lights or known to Chinese as `Yuan Xiao' will showcase the work of 44 Chinese artist who flew in to work on the project in late October. Visitors can stroll at night past the colorful light sculptures and glowing lanterns, from extravagant peacocks and life-like tigers, the displays vary in size from two to eight meters tall. The zoo is accessible by train or bus, and the park is a 15 min. walk from the NS station in Emmen. Information in Dutch, English and German www.diernpark-emmen.nl.
