Brownies&downieS will open up on campus

Brownies&downieS is opening up a branch in the Spiegel building at the University of Twente. The catering chain, which offers jobs to people with mental disabilities, will start serving lunches on campus this summer.

Brownies&downieS is teaming up with the UT caterer Appèl to start the new lunch spot. The chain already has over fifty branches throughout the Netherlands, including one in the center of Enschede. The UT will be the second university location where they’ve set up a lunch room after recently opening its doors at Eindhoven University of Technology.

Brownies&downieS provides work to employees who often face additional challenges on the job market, for example due to an intellectual disability. The new UT branch will be run by Anne van der Raadt, who also runs the branch in the centre of Enschede, and will be open to everyone at the university.
