U-Today organizes a media strategy workshop

| Michaela Nesvarova

Do you want people to understand the relevance of your work and why it’s important for society? Media exposure can help you with that, but dealing with the press can be tricky. For that reason, U-Today is organizing a special media strategy training for researchers at the UT. The pilot workshop will be held on the 24th of September in DesignLab.

Knowing when and how to approach media can be very beneficial for a scientist’s career. Seeing your work ‘in the papers’ can motivate you, help you get in touch with other researchers and it can increase your chances of getting funding. Yet, we see that many scientists are nervous about approaching or being approached by journalists. U-Today, the independent news platform of the UT, has therefore decided to put together a special workshop – to help the UT scientists find their way through the journalistic jungle.

The pilot workshop titled ‘Media strategy for (young) researchers’ will be held on the 24th of September in DesignLab. In half a day, the participants will receive practical tips & tricks on how to deal with the press, on how to improve their interviewing skills, and how to best communicate about their research – with journalists and with the general public.

If you’d like to spend the afternoon with your fellow UT researchers and work on your interviewing skills, it is still possible to sign up. Interested in participating? Send us an email to [email protected] .
