The European Commission is investing € 16 million in DIH-HERO (Digital Innovation Hubs in Healthcare Robotics), a project aimed at faster innovations in healthcare robotics. It involves 17 partners in 10 European countries, with the UT as the main coordinator.

The large Horizon2020 project is focused on accelerating innovation and implementation of robotics applications for healthcare. Its goal is to create an independent organization that establishes links between knowledge institutes, commercial companies, investors and other stakeholders, so that they can bring their products and services to the healthcare market faster.

Stefano Stramigioli, Professor of Advanced Robotics at the University of Twente, is the coordinator of DIH-HERO. Within the UT, both the TechMed Center and the Digital Society Institute are involved in the implementation of the European project.
