A3T becomes an official UT student team

Aerobotic Tech Team Twente (A3T) has become the sixth official UT student team. The team focused on drone technology has received a final approval from the Executive Board and will now be supported by the University of Twente.

A3T has applied to be recognized as a student team earlier this year. After undergoing a new official procedure, a specially appointed committee agreed that the students met the necessary requirements, such as having a clear challenge, a multidisciplinary team and a proper business plan. As of now, A3T is therefore entitled to financial and other support from the university.

A3T could be classified as a ‘drone team’. Their goal is to build drones and compete with them in international competitions. They have already participated in the drone battle DroneClash in February. Next year they would like to participate in the autonomous drone racing challenge MAAXX and in the UAS Challenge, where teams are required to design and build a UAS (Unmanned Aircraft System) and demonstrate its operation in a humanitarian aid mission. Moreover, the team has developed a three year training program which aims to prepare its members to become ‘future leaders in the drone industry’.
