Europe visits Enschede

Yesterday around 1000 students arrived at the University of Twente campus for the year's biggest AEGEE event, the Spring Agora. Below are five profiles of attendees from across Europe.

Beata (24) is originally from Poland and currently lives in Brussels. She is participating in the Agora both for personal development and to promote the AEGEE Human Resource Committee, which was created at the last Agora in October 2011. As she is studying Human Resource Management, leading the committee is good experience for her future career. She hopes that at this Agora she will raise the profile of the Committee and attract new members. She knows that local AEGEE groups have problems getting people involved and she wants to use HRM material and other information to help local groups.

Monica is 25 years old and lives in Romania, where she is studying Italian and English. This is her first Agora and she thinks it is a good opportunity to visit the Netherlands. Her main reason for being here is to catch up with old friends and meet new people. She is particularly enthusiastic about this event as representatives from the European Union are also participating.

Anastasia (23), from Moscow, is studying Public Administration in Berlin. She is looking forward to her first Agora and is very curious about the event. She expects to meet interesting people and possibly be involved in taking decisions for AEGEE. She is particularly concerned about whether the Agora will make decisions which have a real impact on the future of Europe or if the focus is mainly on networking (which is obviously important too).

Aris (23) is a member of AEGEE in Greece, where he is studying Computer Engineering. He participates in Agoras in order to make new friends from all over the world and have fun with them. At this Agora he also hopes to catch up with old friends from previous events. The Agora has an administrative importance for him too, as the new board of AEGEE will be elected here.

Teo is a 26 year-old AEGEE member from Tbilisi, Georgia. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts. Her aim for the Agora is to get to know how the AEGEE system works. She also wants to learn new things and to meet people from all over the world, as well as have fun. As it is her first Agora she is very excited about what is going to happen. She also thinks that the Agora is very important as many important decisions will be made here.
