For Acasa this is a real threat as they lose a lot of revenue but still have expenses for the maintenance. Until now they used to follow the rule of Coöptatie which means that a new housemate is accepted if more than one half of the flat decides to let this person move in. But as there are a lot of students, especially German students, who don’t get accepted by a flat even if there are a lot of free rooms, Acasa decided to select new students who move into a room if the room is free for long time. With this new strategy they hope to trigger flats to look faster and more intensive for new housemates. Acasa emphasizes that they prefer the tenants to decide themselves who moves in. Only in the last instance they decide on the person.
