For Andre, a first year student at the University of Twente the answer to this question is clear: “No!” Still he eats about 1 time per week in one of the cafeterias of the UT buildings and says that the food does not taste as good as he expected in 90 % of his visits. Moreover he regrets that a meal is too expensive for students and that the ordering time is quite long.
The question is how the University can improve the catering to make it more attractive for everyone. In the first quartile they made a questionnaire to get an overall impression of student’s opinions but unfortunately we have not heard of the results or the action points. “Fair food” is promoted in the cafeteria of the Waaier, which is definitely a good point but it does not help students to effort having lunch in one of the canteens on a regular basis. The best solution seems to be preparing food at home.
