Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands will attend part of the UT's Dies Natalis ('birth year') festivities held on Friday 25 November. That day the UT celebrates its 50th anniversary. After the program's opening at 2:00p by the UT rector magnificus Professor Brinksma, the Queen will attend Professor van Blitterswijk's lecture on the possibilities of regenerative medicine. Other occurrences that day include the handing out of five honorary awards to persons who made an outstanding contribution to science, including 'Mythbuster' Adam Savage. The Orkest van het Oosten (Orchestra of the East) will perform some music pieces in between events. The celebration takes place in Enschede's Wilmink theater and is open to registered invitees only.
