Who was Dr. Alphonse Ariëns? The Ariënsplein (Ariëns Square) is named after the pioneer in Christian social doctrine who fought for the rights of the lower-class during the industrial period in Twente.  He built the Concordia building as a society house for the working class. This year marks the 125th anniversary of his mission work in Enschede. Ariëns Catholic Students Association organizes a historical walking tour, offered in English, through the city of Enschede on Sunday 23 October.
