More Money for Education

Higher education in the Netherlands needs more investment to reinforce their position in the global education market. A recent report states drop-out rates are too high and there are too few challenges for top students. The demands of students and employers cannot be met in the current situation. The report advises that investments should be made to secure the position of Dutch universities and HBO-colleges in the global market and universities should be allowed to select students on the basis of exam results and interviews. Top-level Dutch students who pass their exams automatically qualify for a university spot except for the most popular subjects.
