`Musing like Jacques Brel, growling like De Dijk' writes the Noordhollands Dagblad about the cd `Hadeskade'. In the theatrical show of the same name, Roeka and his oft-praised band kick it up a notch.

Roeka's trademark is a combination of raw romance, poetry, humour, and melancholia. `Hadeskade' shows an artist that has explored all the hidden corners of human emotion and expresses them in song. In 2000, Roeka received the Annie M.G. Schmidt prize and has been performing now for ten years; this fifth album can rightly be called a milestone in what the artist himself calls autobiographical musical theatre.

The arrangement of the production is once again in the hands of pianist Jaco Benckhuijsen.

Alex Roeka: guitar, vocals; Jaco Benckhuijsen: piano, vocals; Peter van Os: accordion, vocals; Reyer Zwart: bass, vocals
