Jazz Podium presents As Guests

Fresh, playful, transparent and accessible: such is the music of As Guests. Though the configuration - a quartet with vibraphonist and pianist - clearly builds on a rich tradition, not unlike that of the famous Lionel Hampton, As Guests is very `now'. Its modern aspects comprise strong, diverse compositions and sharp improvisations. The clear sound of the vibraphone renders every piece extra lively and colorful. As Guests was founded by the Slovak musicians Miroslav Herak (vibraphone) and Michal Vanoucek (piano) in 1996, while still in Slovakia. Five years ago they moved to the Netherlands, where they formed a new As Guests with the Belgian contrabassist Janos Bruneel and the Portuguese drummer Joao Lobo.
