An inventory by the International Office, the Personnel Department and the Communication Department shows that about fifty students and a hundred employees of the University of Twente are from countries affected by the tsunami. Over the past few days, the university has attempted to contact all of them. Sixty employees and twenty students have notified us that they are unaffected by the disaster. The other employees have not yet responded.

Also, ten Dutch UT students were doing internships in this region. They have been contacted and they are all unharmed. According to the information of the Personnel Department, there were no UT employees travelling on university business in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia or India.

Anyone who is from one of these countries and has not yet been in contact with the university is urgently requested to call one of the telephone numbers listed below. The university is trying to support where possible all those in the university community affected by the disaster. If you have any questions, please call:

Employees: Personnel Department, Kas de Vries: 053-4898010.

Students: International Office, Suzanne van der Kolk or Frits Spoek: 053-4894697.

In all canteens an opportunity will be provided to donate money to the United Relief Organisations (giro 555). Up to date information will be published on the website of the University of Twente.
